After the trials and tribulations of this year, essentially reaching a bit of a plateau on the weight loss front, I am amazed to find myself quite motivated at the minute. So motivated in fact that I have decided to sign up to something I have always wanted to do but never been confident enough to face, a mud runner.
I have signed up to the 8k Devil Mud Run in Cheltenham that takes place in about 3 weeks time and I am going to be doing it with a colleague. In addition to this I have signed up to do a Junior Mud Run over 3miles with my 5 year old son, and this takes place in October 2015.
One of the great things about trying to get fit is the fact it gives you the confidence to try new things. I set myself a mini-target of trying a new fitness or sport thing each year that I am trying to get fit. So far, three years in, and FIVE stone down (did I mention that :-)) I have tried Boxing (year one), did the Three Peaks in year two, doing the Mud Runners this year and I potentially have something really exciting planned for 2016.
I am one of those annoying people who always needs a challenge to keep motivation levels high and I am always looking for new ways to try and test myself. The Devil Mud Run will be a big challenge. At the minute the farthest I have ran is 4miles in around 50 mins. So doing 6 miles will take me well out of my comfort zone but I am confident that, as long as there is a trained medic nearby, I will get it done.
At the minute, whilst I am always looking to lose more weight and tone up, I am reasonably happy with where I am. I am about 1kg away from my lightest ever adult weight and eating fairly healthily. If anyone has any tips for doing a Mud Runner, please share them below or pop them to me on Twitter.
